At the Macromolecular Engineering Laboratory, Oksana Dudaryeva and Giovanni Bovone engineer complex materials, such as hydrogels or nanoparticles, that are based on both synthetic and natural polymers. The objective is to design biomaterials and processes for cell culture, synthetic tissues, 3D printing, as well as encapsulation and release of therapeutics. These results advance fundamental understanding of biological processes and material science. Further, research findings from the lab are applied to develop tangible technologies in the fields of regenerative medicine, drug delivery, and biomedical diagnostics.
